Zalman Yarmush

Zalman was born and raised in Crown Heights and is based there today; his children were all born in Brooklyn. Before brokerage he worked the ownership side of the business: property management, development, and value-add investment property. That is where he learned to read a building the way an owner does, not off a spreadsheet.

He began his brokerage career at Marcus & Millichap in Los Angeles in 2015, selling multifamily across the city. After moving back to New York in 2017 he joined Marcus & Millichap's New York Multifamily team. Over seven years there he was part of more than $100M in investment sales, including two of Midwood's largest rent-stabilized sales: $18M and $17.8M on Avenue H within six months of each other.

In 2024 he founded Yarmush Investment Group, an investment brokerage working across New York City with an emphasis on the Brooklyn submarkets. With a working command of New York rent-stabilization law, zoning, and the realities of today's financing market, he has sold nearly every type of multifamily and mixed-use asset. Since founding the firm he has closed 13 deals on his own, more than $26M, from a 46-unit building in Homecrest to a development site in Brownsville.

He is known for a relentless work ethic, a straight read on value, and going further than expected to get a deal closed efficiently. When he is not working, he is usually cycling or running through Prospect Park, or studying Talmud.
